58th Filmfare Awards South Winners List
Here is the complete list of Filmfare awards 2011 winners. Allu Arjun bagged the best actor award at 56th Idea Filmfare Awards for his performance in Vedam. Critically acclaimed Vedam movie bagged four awards in total.Anushka bagged best actor (female) award and Krishh got best director award.

Brahmi Gadi Katha : Fun on the Run
It isn’t strange in Tollywood that a director like Eeshwar Reddy, who has serious films like Aa Naluguru, Mee Sreyobhilashietc. under his belt, titles his film Brammigadi Katha. Obviously he seems to be yearning to come out of his comfort zone to make a comic caper. And he is successful to an extent as Brammigadi Katha yields many laughs from its audiences. |
What is Good : The screenplay of the movie is an interesting amalgamation of narratives giving way to many hilarious situations. It is ably supported by its key actors too. Varun Sandesh has very little to do, but he seems to have thoroughly enjoyed whatever he has done here – be it running for his life or flex his tiny muscles, whenever a scene demands. The same is the case for Asmita Sood too, who makes her debut with this film. Krishnudu should be appreciated too for doing a fair bit of running. However, it is the senior actors like Brahmanandam and Jai Prakash Reddy who give the movie’s funniest moments. Jai Prakash’s typical Rayalaseema slang puts you into splits and Brahmanandam’s timing is as amazing as ever. | |
What is bad: The treatment of the movie is somewhat similar to A Film By Aravind, though the latter fell into the thriller genre. However, the movie gets repetitive, especially in the post interval episodes. Most of the film’s comedy is based on a flimsy premise that the characters do not find time to communicate with one another, even though most of them are together for almost 36 hours of time! Obviously the screenplay falls back a bit too much on cinematic license. However, that should hardly be any hindrance for anyone who is out there to have some laughs. | |
Technical Departments : Apart from interesting screenplay, the other thing that keeps this comic caper working is its background music. Koti definitely knows the pulse of Telugu film audience. Editing in running scenarios can be tricky, but the editor knows his job. Cinematography too complements the screenplay, and the camera showcases a different lookingHyderabad. Most of the movie has been shot in-house or on locations near and around Hyderabad, ensuring that the production values remain under control. On the whole the technical aspects can boast of nothing special, yet nothing seems to have gone wrong. Bottomline : Brammigadi Katha is made to be an out and out entertainer. Nagarjuna’s International School of Films + Media launched
Akkineni Nagarjuna has launched a film school with international standards in Hyderabad. International School of Films + Media (ISFM) will provide film courses on various levels in crash, short term and full term. This film school will provide courses on the twenty four crafts of film making. Admissions will open from tomorrow and the classes will start commencing from September.
Nagarjuna said that this has been the dream of his father Akkineni Nageswara Rao and he is happy to fulfill it. He also stated that this school is not intended to make profits. Nimmagadda foundation has handed over 1 crore rupees as the corpus fund to provide scholarships.
Mahesh Babu creates yet another record!
Superstar, Prince Mahesh Babu has created another record on Twitter. He is the first ‘exclusive’ Tollywood celebrity to surpass 2 lakh mark in the followers count on the most popular social networking website. He has achieved this feat in just over a year.
Mahesh Babu has also the record of the first person to have surpassed 1 lakh followers from South cinema. Siddharth who is also a known Bollywood actor is ahead of him though.

Ram, Tamannaah’s ‘Endhukante…Premanta’ launched
A new film titled, Endhukante…Premanta starring Ram and Tamannaah was launched earlier today in Ramanaidu Studios. A Karunakaran is going to direct the film and Sravanthi Ravi Kishore is going to produce the film on Sravanthi Movies banner. G V Prakash is going to compose the music and I Andrew is the cinematographer.
Ram, Tamannaah, A Karunakaran, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, Sukumar, S S Rajamouli, Vijaya Bhaskar, Suresh Babu and Kona Venkat graced the occasion. Vijaya Bhaskar sounded the clapboard, Suresh Babu switched on the camera and Sukumar directed the first shot.
Speaking at the movie launch, Kona Venkat, who’s playing a negative role in the film, said, “This is my third film with Karunakaran. He’s a sensitive director. There are certain unexpected events between the lead pair in this movie and the reason for it turns out to be the love. That’s why we titled the movieEndhukante... Premanta. Coming to hero’s characterization, in most of the films, the characterization of the hero would be such that families wish that such a guy should have been a family member; however, in this film the impression would be the exact opposite. It’s a beautiful love story.”
Ram said that the film has some of his favourite technicians and also that it’s been a dream come true to be working with them. “I am feeling lucky to have such a nice home banner,” he added. Tamannaah was all smiles about acting in the film and said, “I had done a cameo in Ram’s Ready and now I am acting in a full length role. I am also a big fan of A Karunakaran and appreciated him after I saw Darling. No wonder, he is called as montage king. After 100% Love, I hope this turns to be yet another good film in my career.” Sravanthi Ravi Kishore said, “I have been looking forward to produce a film with Ram & Karunakaran and I am glad that things have worked out after so many days. After narrating the full story, Karunakaran took about 9 months to plan each and every shot. I am highly impressed by his detailing and planning. This film has good story and right casting. I believe that a good cast can do wonders to any film.”
Suman, Raghubabu, Rishi, Sayaji Shinde, Nagineedu and others are playing important roles. Kona Venkat has written the dialogues.

Mahesh Babu’s Dhookudu shooting in Gachibowli
Achanta Ram, Anil Sunkara and Gopichand are producing the film on 14 Reels Entertainments banner. Thaman is composing the music. Prakash Raj plays an important role in this action entertainer. Gopi Mohan has penned the story. K V Guhan is the cinematographer.
Rajamouli condemns Kajal item song rumors
Director Rajamouli cleared the air about Kajal Agarwal’s rumored item song in Eega movie. “News that Kajal doing an item number in eega are not true. There are no item sings in eega. Just a baseless rumour,” Rajamouli tweeted on his twitter page.
Eega is a partly animated flick with housefly playing the title role. Nani and Samantha are lead pair and Kannada actor Sudeep is donning the role of a baddie.
Rajamouli, who is known for making mass masala entertainers, is coming up with a complete experimental flick.
Rajamouli will move to Prabhas’s film after he is done with Eega. Right now he is fully focusing on this film as he is taking this as a challenge to answer his critics that he can’t make a film without masala elements. Even in Maryada Ramanna there was faction backdrop attached to it.

Karthi’s Naa Peru Siva, Renigunta, Mynaa (Prema Khaidi), Goa, Urumi, Bala Surya, Dhanam, Sishira, Chikku Bukku (Fair and Lovely), Rajani, Ragile Kasi and few more dubbed films from various languages are ready to take on straight Telugu movies.
Our government doesn’t levy high taxes or take necessary measures to cut down on the heavy inflow of dubbed films. Therefore, they are troubling straight films and eating into their business at times. Recent dubbed hit Rangam is one of the reasons for this sudden boom.

Twitter woes: FNAEM bans Actor Siddharth
An angry tweet from Siddharth who got irked with a TV program has put the actor in trouble. Recently a well known news channel has aired a program on 180 movie stating that the movie isn’t up to the mark. This program was aired prior to the release of 180 and Siddharth has every reason for his outburst.
Siddharth tweeted on his Twitter page “3rd grade 'N'ews channels will sell their families to make up an hour of tv. Clarifying their garbage & lies is not worth our time. Ignore!” that didn’t go down well with Film Newscasters Association of Electronic Media (FNAEM).
On Tuesday, electronic media persons walked away when Sidharth is about to talk in 180 press meet. FNAEM also lodged a complaint with MAA to take action against Siddharth who always makes derogatory remarks against media and journalists.
